Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) was an American actor, singer as well as a dancer. Her first performances on Broadway included in Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The role she played on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's current film will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. As a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in the month of March 2023, when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the leading the show. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Two seasons ago, Ashford was a star of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
